Spellbinders large die set of the month October 2021 - Santa's fireplace

 Hi and welcome to my blog. 

Today I'm sharing my inspiration with the Spellbinders October large die set- Santa's Fireplace.

I can tell you this die set is really awesome!! It has no less than 27 pieces and it's suitable for Christmas but also for thanksgiving. AND it has a kinetic element. If you use the santa hanging in the fireplace the legs move back and forth.

I went for a more vintage look and made this cosy Christmas card.

I used Tim Holtz backdrops papers for the fireplace and 

the background.

The two Christmas trees are from the October small die set.

This card involved  a lot of die cutting with all the small elements but I do 

like how it turned out. It has a nostalgic feel to it.

Spellbinders large die of the month June - Colorblock circles & stripes

 

Hi crafty friends, welcome to my blog!

It's the start of a new month and that means the Spellbinders Clubs die kits are out.

I'm sharing inspiration with this month large die set called "colorblock circles and stripes".

This die set has 10 pieces and is great for modern style cards but also for a more vintage look

 as you will see in my make. I made this masculine birthday card.

I have made a step by step photo tutorial on how I made the paper look like 

vintage wood and rusty iron.

First I die cut the strips a few times out of heavy weight cardstock.

I glued the paper strips onto a piece of heavy weight cardstock which I colored grey/black with distress crayons. I left a little gap between the paper strips. 

Then I scribbled distress crayons on the paper strips and with a damp paper towel I 

smeared the crayon colors into the paper. 

To give it a wood look I used all the distress crayons you see in the next picture.

It's a matter of smearing out the crayons with your finger or a slightly damp paper towel 

until you are pleased with the result.

For the metallook pieces I die cut the curve die a few times from white heavy weight cardstock.

I glued three pieces together.

Then I painted the strips with dark grey metallic paint.

With my heat gun I dried the painted pieces.

Next I added texture paste to the paper strips and dried it with the heat gun.

Using my distress crayons I made the paper strips look like rusted metal pieces.

I used the same technique on some gears I had in my stash. They were a bit to shiny and I used the same materials as I did on the paper to make them look old and worn.

Finally I assembled the card. I started with a side fold card from brown cardstock.

I glued on a panel from Tim Holtz backdrop papers.

Then I glued on the faux wood panel and the faux metal circle pieces.

In the center circle I placed a happy birthday die cut.

I also added a foiled sentiment, this is from the Mini Everyday Sentiments set

and a few Tim Holtz hardware heads embellishments.

It was fun making a masculine card for a change. This was a great mixed media project.

Spellbinders large die of the month January 2021

 Hi and welcome to my blog.

First I would like to wish you a Happy New Year. 

May 2021 bring you lots of  happiness, love, good health and laughter!!!

Today I'm sharing my first project with the Spellbinders large die of the month.

Last year I was a designer for Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace monthly die set, but this year I'm sharing my inspiration with the large and small die sets.

Today this month's large die set; a slimeline die called "kaleidoscope hearts"

This set has 10 cutting dies and is perfect for your Valentines cards but also 

for wedding/engagement cards.

I made my own cardstock by using this color scheme.

With photoshop I've created the colored cardstock I wanted to use in my card.

I die cut all the pieces, the larger panel is die cut twice, once in light pink the other in a darker 

pink to offset the pieces for a more whimsical look.

Just look at those adorable little flowers and leaves! They are super cute.

I made the sentiment in Word and printed it on pink cardstock.
